I’ve had bad teeth all my life so for me, for having so many appointments and having to be here a lot, everybody was just so supportive of my situation because I was so nervous of how everything was going to be with my teeth, you know I always had stuff happen with them but they were all so nice about it and understanding and they didn’t make me feel bad about it. It’s like a family here so you are just welcomed, you are not uncomfortable. They are all so nice. I’ve had veneers done. I used to not have two front teeth, I didn’t have my eye teeth so it’s been a long process and I finally just had my veneers done and my fake teeth put in and they did an amazing job. I was so nervous coming into it, I didn’t know what to expect so it was kind of emotional for me but it turned out better than I expected. I love it. It’s so awesome. I get so many compliments on my smile. I didn’t know what the result was going to be so I would always be (like covering my mouth). I’m always smiling but you always think that people are going to notice. You know I had a retainer and I always thought people would notice but they didn’t. Now it is even better and I get more compliments than ever.

It isn’t rare for a minor flaw to stop you from loving your smile. Do you have a stained or discolored tooth? How about a chipped tooth or a gap that you’ve always wanted to close? Even discolored teeth are no match for the great porcelain veneers in Shorewood, IL we offer at Shorewood Family Dental Care!

Veneers are made from a wafer-thin layer of porcelain that is permanently attached to your teeth. In order to get the most natural fit, we remove a thin layer of your teeth’s enamel before attaching them. Veneers allow us to reshape your teeth by extending their edges, smooth out the surfaces of your teeth, recolor and remove blemishes, and rejuvenate teeth that are damaged due to trauma or decay.

Why Choose Porcelain Veneers?

With veneers, you can take a patient who has discolored teeth, misaligned teeth and basically you are reducing the front of the tooth and then changing the color, shape and the overall flow and blend of the teeth. Really you can take a patient who is unhappy with the color of their teeth and they end up really being happy with their smile. A lot of times it can be non-invasive where you are not really reducing that much of their tooth and in the end they have a completely new smile that they are happy with.

There are a number of reasons why veneers made of porcelain are a great choice for your cosmetic needs. Not only are they able to easily reshape your teeth, they have a long history of providing great results because:

  • Porcelain is naturally stain-resistant and won’t discolor like other cosmetic materials.
  • Porcelain is strong – your veneers can last more than 10 years!
  • No extra care is needed – once placed, your veneers can be treated just like regular teeth!
  • We can whiten your teeth using veneers – there are a range of color choices, so you might as well get a brighter smile while you’re at it!

These advantages mean that veneers in Shorewood, IL are a great match for a wide variety of patients, but not necessarily for everyone. If you grind your teeth or have excessive damage due to decay, veneers aren’t the best choice for you. In this case, we’d be glad to discuss restorative or other dental cosmetic options!

What Will Happen At My Appointment?

Veneers are typically placed on the upper front teeth and it is to create a smile. So everybody has looked at a magazine and they saw “wow, that actor has a perfect smile or perfect teeth”. Well they have perfect teeth because there was a dentist involved somewhere along the way. The veneer is a new front of your existing teeth, it doesn’t replace it, it gets bonded over the front of it. By doing that we can change proportions and we can get symmetry. So if one tooth is shorter than the other we can improve that and make it perfect. If the teeth have cracks in them or chips or bonding that is discolored, we take care of that with a veneer as well. We can get perfect symmetry, perfect length and perfect color by bonding porcelain on the front of your existing teeth.

Your veneers will be completed over the course of two appointments. At your first appointment, you’ll meet with your dentist to discuss your goals for treatment. We’ll examine your teeth to make sure you’re an ideal candidate with plenty of enamel, no sign of decay on the target teeth, and good oral health. We may also take X-rays to further ensure your health!

After determining that veneers are the right choice for you, we’ll clean your teeth and prepare them for your veneers! This involves removing a thin layer of your enamel and then taking an impression of your mouth. This impression is sent to our dental lab, where they use it to hand-make your veneers exactly as you and your dentist discussed.
