With pediatric dentistry we start with kind of a wellness check and one year old. It sounds kind of funny but a lot of moms need the education as to here is a good diet, here is a bad diet, if the child lets us take a peek, we look, we try to guide them as to what can happen, what’s going on, what might happen. The key though is to get the child used to coming into the dental environment in a non-threatening way. Moving forward, yeah we love kids here. We have a couple of dentists here who excel at taking care of kids and it’s all about communication. the more mom and dad know, the better they can do at home to support what we are trying to do for the kid. Ultra kid friendly, kids love having a tv in every operatory. They can put on their video that they want to watch and once that is on, they tend to do really, really well.

Ever since we opened our doors in 1974, we’ve been all about quality, affordable dental care. Since then, we’ve grown to be a trusted name in Shorewood dental care with people from all over the community recommending us to their friends and family. We’ve proudly served our community for over 40 years and built our practice on a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

Our availability and hours have helped us become known for providing care on your schedule. We operate 12 hours a day Monday through Thursday and will make every effort we can to help you get the healthy, happy smile you deserve.

They can come to one place and they know that they have four fantastic doctors and a whole team of people who can take care of them here so they can rest assured that all they have to do is pick up the phone and call Shore Family Dental and we can take care of them. If we can’t, obviously we have a whole team of specialists who can. Because of our hours and the way that we are set up, if you call up at 7:00 in the morning, chances are we will be able to see you in a very short period of time. In the same breath, because of how we are set up, we can actually have the whole family come in at the same time and be seen in a short period of time and that’s very, very beneficial especially with our larger families and our busy individuals. For executives who work early or stay late, we do have early hours, late hours and also weekend hours so we take care of our individuals doing that. Oh man, it’s just so much fun doing it.

We know the value of our local community, and we believe that giving back is just as important to our success as patients are. We’re proud to spend time servicing needy populations in Joliet, providing care for donations, and visiting schools and daycares to give children workshops on dental health. Without a community that works together to care for teeth and health, we couldn’t do what we do!

To me the main thing is, and we preach it all the time, customer service. Well I know in dental school, in hygiene, they train you, it’s almost like a brain wash. You are going to focus down to the micron regarding a tooth or bacteria and that’s what your focus is, that’s the technical skill. You have to learn that way and once you get the skill down though, you always have to step back and remember, this is really about taking care of a person and so what we try to do and what I try to do and try to get vision is first and foremost, it’s taking care of your patient. It’s a customer service industry that happens to take care of teeth. I say that all the time but I truly believe it and I think if we forget what is the most important, which is the person, and we only focus on the technical aspect, we lose the warm fuzzies we are trying to get for people and we also lose the fun of it. Dentistry is like golf and running, you can always do better. Our skills are top notch or excellent but I don’t know that patients notice the difference. They expect that but they can tell a difference in how they feel when they leave here regarding the warm and fuzzies. How do I feel about my experience, how was I treated. That is really our focus when it comes down to taking care of patients here and I think the whole team gets that. We are lucky enough to hear that all the time, compliments about Hulsey did a good job today or Suzie or Mary. I love that because I don’t have to be in the room to hear it, that means that message is getting around to everybody and it comes through from the patient’s response and compliments.
